Centrale IDEX Chaud & Froid de la Défense

Together with its sister plant in Nanterre, the Arche Nord power plant at La Défense supplies heating and cooling to 3.5 million m², i.e. 200 office buildings and 12,000 housing units.

As far as the eye can see, pipes bubble with heating or cooling water. Air-conditioning tanks.

The plant combats CO² emissions by gradually switching to a mix of bio-fuel, natural gas and agro-pellets (pellets made from rapeseed straw, corn, walnut shells, olive stones and vine shoots) delivered by rail. 24 km of hot circuit, 14 km of cold circuit, 60% renewable energy (54 t of CO² saved/year).
