Icam liaisons : Health today and tomorrow

01 December 2020

Editorial

Our association continues with determination to implement its resolutions, based on the strategic plan that has just been drawn up. The health crisis continues to call for greater vigilance, but it is our duty to forge ahead with realistic optimism.
On September 19, we exchanged views on our past and future actions at the AGE, AGO and Board meetings. We report on the first 2 meetings in this issue of our magazine, and you can find links to documents and reports in October's Flash IL N°18.

We would like to emphasize :
- the importance of the role played by the class delegate in coordinating the alumni network: he or she is the link between all the members of the network, and it would be a good idea for this responsibility to rotate within the class. In order to revitalize our activities, we have decided to set up a governance structure for the promotion delegates, headed by Thomas Serre (110 ABR) and Barthélémy Giard (78 ILI).
- the need for solidarity between us, as part of our Ignatian roots.

Health is a major theme that we've been wanting to tackle for some time. It is, of course, a topical issue, and is the subject of the important"Dossier" in IL N°199. The alumni testimonials are numerous, complementary and consistent. This is a major issue for our well-being and life expectancy. Many alumni are involved, in one way or another. "The enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition", according to the 1946 WHO preamble.

Our focus is on Australia and New Zealand. It's a very distant destination, but an exciting one: many young people go there for training. Some of our alumni live there, enriching us with their discoveries.
You'll find out in the "School Life" section that Icam is also at the service of business development through its Business Services Division (Pôle Services aux Entreprises - SE). In addition, we wanted to develop this much-appreciated pedagogical initiative of the "engineer's declaration" at the end of studies, in front of school and alumni representatives.
Using the 2 IESF and Universum surveys, we are analyzing the profiles and wishes of Icam students. They are engaged in transformations, and are looking to implement their values in medium-sized structures.
Our chaplain continues to help us take stock and reflect on this very special year 2020: an opportunity to live together differently.
Our path becomes even clearer with the powerful testimony of an entrepreneur in the "Portrait d'un dirigeant" section.
We continue with a much-needed update from the Chairman of the Féron-Vrau Foundation on our 2020 initiatives and the major project in Lille, which will continue to mobilize our efforts for many months to come.

Finally, we'd like to talk to you about employment, entrepreneurship and international business. These are strong and important subjects in which we need to be involved.
We hope you enjoy reading IL, and wish you a sober and happy holiday season. May 2021 bring you great challenges and success, both personally and professionally.
